Outcast Poem by Martin Baraka

Outcast

A hero is all i ever wanted to be
Heaven is all i ever wanted to see
i hoped for nothing but glee
but sorrow got the best of me

I never got an answer to my question
I never got assistance for the mission
so i got bombed and lost my vision
my only reward was rejection

a brave soldier never cries
hope never dies
one day i'll see blue skies
and i'll be standing with the suit guys

Although I eschew suits, I understand your drive. Thanks, Martin
