Outside In The Night Poem by Terence George Craddock

Outside In The Night

it is late in the evening
darkness has long past fallen
my wife goes into the bedroom
entering her night getting
ready to sleep preparation routine

my wife flicks on the bedroom light
our cat asleep on the bed squawks in protest
she does not like the bright light on
does not like being woken from sleep

she slept most of the day
later she will wake in the night want out
cats have keep mystery plans meetings kept
outside in curiosity stalking the night
darkness unseen or in moonlight bright
