Overcast Skies Veil The Sun Poem by Barbara Villabol

Overcast Skies Veil The Sun

Sunlight is intermittently dimmed
Then bright
Clouds of impermanence
Drift away in the light of your smile
And return with your words
Of doubt

Still seeking warm sunlight
There, only moments ago in the blue sky
Of your eyes

I swallow cold rain
In the provisional wind
This tentative bond
Tethers me to dreams, desires

I sense you hope
That I will soon say goodbye
And save you the pain
Of hurting me

There is love between us
We lay together touching
Do you doubt my love
Or love me too little

Which

Sensitive breasts pressed against you
Hands softly caress you
You lay passive
Not rejecting
Lightly embracing

I desire you
Fire slow to extinguish
Pain steady as sunburn
