Pain Poem by Tiffany Baldwin

Pain

Pain...

Pain...

What is pain?

Slamming your hand in the car door.

Having your heart shrivel up and rot in the core of your being and feel it withering away with every tear.

A five gallon bucket of paint dropped on your big toe from 4 feet in the air.

Hearing your Father and Mother scream at each other down the hall.

Watching your father beat your mother

Waiting and Waiting for your Mother to come home and she never does.

Listening to your mother cry as she holds a knife and as she tells you how pretty her red blood would look in the green garbage can.

Having your mother not believe you when you tell her your innocents was stolen by your uncle.

Having your father tell you your just like your mother.

Your child coming home from school with tears in her eyes because of a bully.

Watching your child just take it and accept it because it is all she has seen you do.

Losing a grandparent

Losing a sweet child to Cancer.

Losing the battle of a struggling marriage.

Seeing a stranger cry.

Falling up the stairs and slamming your shin on the concrete step above you.

Pain...

Pain...

Believing with every bit of goodness in your heart that you have met your best friend. The one who gets you. The one who would always be by your side.. good.. bad... forever.. you couldn't imagine living one more day in this life and taking a breath without them in your life... hand in hand... side by side... anchored and strong... and then in your moment of weakness when you know all you have is them... blind.. broken.. aching with agony... reaching your weak and brittle hand up in the air knowing that they will grab your hand and pull you up and be your strength... but then come to realize your reaching for nothing.. no one is there.... you are alone... afraid.. and for the hundredth time in your life feel that simple but yet very powerful word.....

Pain...

I am now and forever will be numb

That was intense. I like your style...it's like crying really hard that you choke and then laughing at the funny noise your throat made and then start crying again.
