Paint Your Wings Poem by Mark Heathcote

Paint Your Wings

Paint your wings with the air.
And sing till there are rainbows everywhere.
Sing till the shadows dance.
And lose their shackles.
Sing and have an exorcism and be free.

Paint your wings any colour you choose.
So long as it's not the blues.
Sing your hymns in the storm.
Because you are equal to the sun and starlight.
And you belong.

Praise the morning songbird.
Doing its thing
And do the same and sing.
Because that's your thing too.

Paint your morning and evening.
And be glad to be born.
Be glad of every new dawn.

Paint your wings with the air.
With whatever makes you happy and sing,
And sing till there are rainbows everywhere
Of every description, every colour.
Paint your wings any colour you choose.
So long as it's not the blues, the blues, the blues.
