Paleo-Economists

It was a way of theirs
to never separate words,
to start bottom left,
to build up like stairs:

a n d e x i s
a c t i v e t
a c t i v s e r
a n d s i t i s.
o f b i s t v e s,
t i r o t e r s:
3 e r s h e r s

3
tiers
of brothers
and sisters:
activitives,
actives
and existers.

Not an easy poem to interpret; hard thinking is called for. It seems the paleo-economists reversed the usual word patterns on the page. Very worthwhile to read.
