I am a drop, and the drop is from the sea;
Why then I deem myself apart from my essence?
The separation is an imaginary line in my mind;
Erase well that line, for it was drawn by me,
His song of love I keep listening in my heart;
lest I suppose that I am apart from him:
it is the drama of love, that I play -
Here the two lovers are parted from each other,
To show how in Divine Love a lover must suffer,
Pain and anguish due to the pangs of separation,
As do the lovers suffer in ordinary love,
In this love affair, I have found at last,
That the vision of the beloved must require,
Seer and seen, though essence remains one.
