Paper Faces - Poem by Corina Vitale

I’ll hide mine if you hide yours
These faces that we detest

I love you but
I don’t love me

Hiding behind paper faces
I feel that I am safe

But one day I want to know your face
Look into your eyes

One day
When I feel safe
I’ll take off the mask
And look into my face

An interesting proposition, but one that in all probability will fail.
