Paper People Pleasers Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Paper People Pleasers

Beautiful dreams,
dream away, dream away.
I feel so helpless laying in your arms.
You're like an illusion my minds created.
No one knows about you but I.
Though in my lifestyle,
it's better for you to be unknown.
I want to protect you,
from the words people spew,
from the harsh reality,
from myself.
You're not my child,
nor my kin,
but I care for much more.
As I leave for church,
I will repent for my sins.
I will surrender myself.
Not only to a speak of a God I claim to not believe in,
but I would also never repent.
For I do not think what I've done is wrong.
A soul so imperfect as my own,
in a body so un unique,
I walk in a shell to impress.
My heart and intentions,
could not be more sincere.
To please, is my aim,
to be pleased is my fate.
These people pleasers,
are as fragile as I.
