Part Ii, At Long Last: 'hope! ' Poem by Bryan Taplits

Part Ii, At Long Last: 'hope! '

I propelled, driving in my car,
Around. Around. Around.
Witnessing all my future's dreary day
On these sepulchral driving grounds.
I circled above a concrete reef
Just going, I know not where-
Relapsed in dreams of past battles fought-
Just drove-I didn't care!

When then, above, I saw a gaping vault-
Cobalt sky- glaring so; it looked so proud-
I double-took at the sight- upon which I looked-
And heard a multi-hued cobalt-ish sound.
I saw a wraith; didn't know if he were friend or foe-
but, I think, he winked-as he looked down,
And though my air was clean and pure at this
height-
I thought that I might drown.

At home, I puzzled at what I had just seen,
My old skyline appeared drab and wear-worn no more,
I dissected it in my memory,
One time-and then a score.
Then settled on this: A bemused puzzled riff: ,
'No more is my future teetering to its close,
'For I saw it, I know it,
and all the sights I saw just showed it-
' I just saw the opening of a door.'
