Partial Perception Poem by David Taylor

Partial Perception

Rating: 5.0

Nothing’s moving
No wind today
Not true!
It is a matter
Of range
Of scale
I see such a tiny range of colour
Dictated by retina’s design
I hear
But not the lowest
And not so high
I smell
What is within my range
I taste
That which taste buds
Are designed to find
I experience
Such a tiny span of time
I see in straight lines
I think in cages of thoughtOnes that I’ve been taught
I feel what I believe I ought
So now I see darkly
Hear partly
Think shallowly
But I can perceive
More than I can ever say
True perception
Cannot by thought or senses
Be conveyed.
