Peace is contentment
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Speak not of peace
The thing that me beguiles
For I have nothing that
In the world can fetch price right
Wander penniless
And sleep homeless
So while living in the world materialistic
How can I be at peace angelic?
'With you I am not agreed upon'
Said a wearied and worried man
Listening to the sermon by a monk
For quite a long time without break
Said the monk while casting on him
A look compassionate and warm
'What if, say I, you have something that can
Bring you a lot of money in return'
But I have nothing worth even a cent
That I shall be worried about a moment
Well, I wish to buy a pair of eyes for twenty thousand dollars
Will you sell yours to me, my dear?
'How about your kidneys, your legs, or your hands? '
That I will pay a lot of money you can't comprehend
'How can I spare parts of my body? '
But you said you have nothing worthy
The truth is you have many things of great value
Only that you are choosing to not rate them highly
In the grand scheme of things
No difference it makes with the presence or absence of a gold ring
You can be sad with what you don't have
Or you can be grateful with what you have
No matter how much you possess
Minuscule they will be for you always
This is not to say money is not important
It is and can give a basic safety net
But how much is a question?
Peace is a choice, an option
Being grateful
Is the easiest way to be peaceful
