Peace Talkers Poem by Chris Hudson

Peace Talkers

I listen to the peace talks
And those men of high degree
They sit on thrones of justice
With their masked hostility

I Watch their smiling faces
As they clasp warm hands in greeting
(Peering through those open mouths
I see the devil cheating)

I listen to their voices
Drumming out the hours
Finding quick solutions
To satisfy their powers

I feel the rising tempers
As they clash on points of view
And see the powerful hatred that exists between the two

I've seen their smiling faces
And the hands that stretch for 'peace'
And I've read the latest headlines
That confirm my hopes, at least

Yet looking through those printed lines
That seem to tell us all
A lot remains I still don't know
And perhaps I will never know at all

I've reached my own conclusions
From this hypocrisy
Man must find his conscience
To find his honesty

And let this be a warning
To those that we elect
You represent the people
and the people you protect
