Peaceful Night Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Peaceful Night

The night, the village night
So peaceful and calm
No shouting, no quarreling
And no sound of machines

All you see is blackness
All you hear is noiseless
All you feel is serenity
That gives you a peace of mind

But you hear sweet melodies
Of harmless little insects
Beautifying more the night
You may hear dogs barking
Exercising their authority

And then I wonder
Why do we fear the night?
