People Spend Their Entire Lives Looking For What I'Ve Found With You Poem by Elizabeth Sheaffer

People Spend Their Entire Lives Looking For What I'Ve Found With You

It wasn't sudden for me.
There were no fireworks.
I felt no uncontrollable need.
It wasn't sudden for me.
The first time I saw you
I didn't lust after you.
It just wasn't sudden for me.
No love at first sight,
No talking until midnight.
Love isn't sudden for me.

But the more we talked
And with all that I learned
My love for you took form.
It grows with each day
Like a nurtured plant.
My love for you was not sudden,
But knowing I wanted to spend
The rest of my life with you:
That was sudden for me.
And you're suddenly part of me.

Please, stay that way.
