Perfect Poem by Sophie Bennett

Perfect

Rating: 3.4

Perfect
Perfect, what does that word even mean?
The word perfect doesn't even seem perfect on its own.
The understanding that I have of perfect is that you have to be something you're not.
Something we strive to be, the thing you want and need.
Is perfect so perfect when your starving yourself silly every day, to look a certain way.
Is it so perfect to have a thigh gap, is it perfect to look pretty?
Being perfect isn't perfect at all, it's only what society wants us to think.
Being human, looking a certain way, dressing well, being skinny, is it right to say that because you have become into something you're not, you can call that perfect.
Well if that's what we are led to believe it must be right.
But we are wrong.
Profoundly wrong! It's not right to be something you're not. It's not right to be skinny because society told you too. It's not right to dress a certain way to feel accepted. It's just not right.
When why do we believe this lie? The lie's that gets told to us every day!
False hope. Misled. Misunderstood.
Well you know what I don't want to be in a world where I am misunderstood, or misled and given false hope.
I want to be in a world that we can accepted that aren't all perfect but it's still beautiful because we can still appreciate our flaws too.
I want to live in a world with peace and harmony, not threatened living day by day. I want to live in a world with hope and success. I want praise and accomplishment.
I want the moment of saying 'I made it'.
I want the success, and to finally live in peace.
The world isn't always beautiful but when you truly experience the world in a different mind-set you will notice the good more than the bad.
The world isn't as bad as you make it, stop complaining.
If you are looking down in the world, look up it might inspire you.
Don't take living for granted, embrace it.
Then finally you will realise that everything that you thought was bad, doesn't seem as bad as you once thought.
The feeling you have now will one day pass and be forgotten, like a distant memory.
So, listen to me, everyone is perfect in their own way!
Embrace you, you all are so perfect to me.

Nicely articulated thoughts and a philosophy of life where the word perfection is a subjective term which can be proved with the help of simple logic and reasoning. Loved reading the poem. Thanks. So, listen to me, everyone is perfect in their own way!
