Perfect Ending Poem by nancy kathleen elardo

Perfect Ending

Each time i see a star fall from the sky
A tear will suddenly fall from my eye
My heart was alive but you killed it before
Now I'm strong enough to fix it - you can't break it once more.

I learned how to breathe without you around
I learned how to sing without the beauty of your sound
Now everything's fine - there's no pain anymore
My heart will live again - like an eagle it will soar.

I gave you my best - wasn't that enough?
Coz' the only option you left me was: 'I had to give you up'
And yes I am hurt but i can never complain
That's why I'm now living in a bitter refrain.

Your smile once gave a meaning to my life
Now that smile is a scar that cuts me like a knife
Giving you up was never an option for me
But my hear wants to stop - YES i need to set you free.

Every story has a beginning - every story has to end
And i guess my perfect ending is to have you as my friend
Now my eyes are opened from what is fantasy and what is true
The fairytale has ended and my prince was never YOU
