Perhaps One Day... Poem by Allen Steble The Philosophical Poet

Perhaps One Day...

Rating: 5.0

Perhaps one day...
I will be all I set out to be
My heavy hide will slide
Off this comfortable couch
If only all was in my favour
And the stars aligned
Then the rocks on the sidewalk
Will shout out to me
Persistently...

Perhaps one day
Will never come
I look above to pray
When the work was not done
Perhaps some day
In the smoke covered future
I will find the way
When some day never comes

Perhaps one day...
The sweet tears of pain
Will rise well beyond
The sour tears of regret
For the pain of discipline
Yields the fruit of joy
Yet the pain of regret
Knows only to consume the soul
Insatiably...

Perhaps one day
Will never come
I look above to pray
When the work was not done
Perhaps some day
In the smoke covered future
I will find the way
When some day never comes

Perhaps one day...
When the sharp agony subsides
And all that remains
Is the absence of excuses
There will only be me to blame
For not making a start
The time will never be right
In the shadow of passing time
Uncertainty...

Perhaps one day
Will never come
I look above to pray
When the work was not done
Perhaps some day
In the smoke covered future
I will find the way
When some day never comes

There is really only one day
Today...
