Persian Carpet Flower Poem by Ima Ryma

Persian Carpet Flower

The Persian carpet flower is
The informal name this plant got,
Because my flower looks, gee whiz,
Like a fancy carpet a lot.
Mostly in Africa is where
My kind in the wild can be found.
We like lots of sun and dry air,
And grow best in the desert ground.
I've got no leaves but armed with spines.
Bisexual my flowers be
Showing off in ornate designs.
Worldwide gardens do display me.

Humans don't like my carrion smell,
But bugs do, and pollinate me well.
