Picket Fence Poem by Diana van den Berg

Picket Fence

He who will not
embrace my thoughts
with honour and grace,
nor let me
lift my eyes to the wide, blue sky,
nor scatter my laughter
over happy days,
nor my tears
on the cold stone nights,
will kill my soul

and I will not
consent
to murder.
