Please Say It Isn'T True Poem by Diana van den Berg

Please Say It Isn'T True

The terror
the desperation
the helplessness
face to face with your would-be murderer.
I know how it feels
but I escaped
several times.

If only you had, too,
yesterday
or the night before.
