Please Shake That Hand Poem by Sarah Mkhonza

Please Shake That Hand

A plea like no other
is for something so
dear yet so simple,
that with a gesture
you make a significance.

While light bulbs look on
and the face has not shut
them forever, touch a soul.

This being still the way
to say one matters no matter
who. Sat in this one way we
are a people who care.

The act of touching another
simple, will remain in another
a hand stretched for very
reaching out looking for you
with the eyes of that hand.
