Poetry 101

well it's kind of like a feeling of disappearing
Into a cloud bank I said by way of explanation
when you make a poem
on a very long ladder enrobed in gold
the ladder I mean
you are just dressed in sky blue to blend in
and hoping no one will look up from traffic,
on horseback on the royal causeways
with vital messages in their saddlebags
and become distracted
and they don't so you vanish with holy impunity into the clouds
of the poem having coloured them in properly
the night before, usually in pinks and blues a little purple
where the pink and blue overlap into the violet cul de sac
and then you are quite comfortable
except for not having thought about the curtains beforehand
which are an apple pattern that clashes with most sunsets
anyway
there you have my introduction for poetry 101
may it serve you well
especially on gloomy afternoons
to cheer you up
for the lack of marzipan in the kingdom
this time of year.
