Capturing thoughts, searching for verse!

That is like surfing on
the north shore of the island of Oahu.

You anticipate a thought, wait for it, hunt,
and when it comes, you must catch it
and sail away carried by it
as if by some wondrous dream,
hauled by the gigantic, proud wave
which, from Kamchatka far away,
thousands of miles would cross
to crash into some unknown shores.

To write poetry is to want
to tame a raw force,
attribute special meaning to it;

into ocean, powerful, merciless,
dive - and come out alive.
