Poetry. What is it?
Is it the words on a paper?
written with coherence
and ease?
A journey of evoking feelings
of love, sorrow, joy
with a few simple words?
The work of the mind
for clarity?
The vulnerability of
mind to hand connection?
Allowing others to see you
as you are?
Putting your deepest thoughts
on display?
The need to write when you see fit
to do nothing else?
To feel through pen and paper,
even when you’re the only one
who understands?
It is the thoughtful silence
when you can think
and breathe
and be.
The swirl of ink on a page
when you write as you feel
and feel as you write.
That’s poetry.
