Poets Rich And Poets Poor Poem by Denis Martindale

Poets Rich And Poets Poor

To meditate is to procrastinate.
Now and then, I can write on the spot,
As soon as I spot an opportunity.
It's a sudden reality and exists in the twinkling of an eye,
In the bosom of the brightest star,
In the opening of a beautiful cavern lit with diamonds.
It's the pearl beyond price that must be worth selling everything for.
Otherwise, what use is it if not regarded well
Or as worthy of our time and our money?
The poor man may use a pencil and scraps of paper.
His words may be the beginnings of beautiful things to come.
Give him his portion of time, give him his portion of money,
Give him the patience of the saints,
And he will soon outshine the poems of a rich man.
