Poisoned Love Poem by Esther McCallister

Poisoned Love

Rating: 5.0

Looking down into my love's cold and lifeless eyes.
His soul empty and indifferent dies.
Ran through with poison from the dead.
Silken indifference to love' s gracious sight.
Haughty, condescending airs.
Dignified insouciance to this poor sinners plight.
Self- Righteous and pristine
Hatred's love of Rage whet not his appetite
From his bones and marrow spring forth convenient lust with dark delight.
Smiling up at me so benign.
Yet deep within lies Satan's paradigm.
Oh how swept away
Oh how so misled.
When really all is cold, damp, dark and dead
Evil ran through poisoned from the head.
Ensnared with promises so sweet.
All your loneliness to defeat.
Bare naked looking up with cold and lifeless eyes.
My frozen soul ran through with poison from the dead.
These thoughts no not just inside my head.
It is the way with love when poisoned from the dead.
