Polar Bears Poem by Georgina Murray

Polar Bears

Rating: 5.0

I see them up in the air,
Their noses point towards you.
You are above, amongst the giants,
I see you Sirius. I see you Ursa, your tail is poised.
Back down below and I lay, gasping for your gravity.
It weighs upon me; great heaving pistons rattle my bones back and forth.
Always in time, my tail takes the strain.
My heart is in the wrong place, I lost my time to shine.

Close by I hear the polar bears,
Making their way towards the centre,
The time whereby we all have come to the Equator,
The journey’s end, the climatic finish,
Burrowed deep in to the core, I feel your weighty pressure,
Your gaseous mass, pushed down so far I thought we were joined.
I was mistaken, this polar bear must travel back alone.
