Political Suppression Of Citizens Offends Poem by Terence George Craddock

Political Suppression Of Citizens Offends

I have thought believed
since about twenty
that most people are so engaged
with stress working economic;
pressing survival pressures
that most people have little
time to relax and think
a solution is escapism;

such struggles mean most
will attempt to escape
in off work time into escapism;
drink drugs lust entertainment
including various video games
just trying to escape survive;

it is true writers poets
journalists observe witness
feel then emotive write
an interesting point;
is the word 'wise'
dictators first imprison
or kill opposition
like scholars teachers poets;

political opposition that opposes
them several present governments
cunning suppress critical voices;

claiming this to be hate
speech or comment
that public might offend;

poverty attacks on freedom offends
injustice political fake news spinners offends
increasing mass public shootings offends
