Politicians Poem by Francis Duggan

Politicians

Ambiguity about them they create
Why can they not answer one question straight
They only use us as a means to power
Like the honey bee for pollen use a flower.

Their egos huge but their ways seem so small
And few politicians one can trust at all
To their advantage the truth to deny
And it seems so easy to them for to lie.

They only think of their wealth and power and fame
And to lie to them is not a thing of shame
They are not renowned for their honesty
And they do seem quite an ordinary lot to me.

Abuse of power is not an honourable thing
Yet the praises of such people many seem to sing
And i do not think that it does seem unfair
To say that dishonest politicians are not rare.

Their main concerns self and friends and family
And much further than their own needs they don't see
For their own small circle they only seem to care
And millions homeless and hungry in the World out there.
