Prayer Poem by Kimberly Lindsey

Prayer

I pray with questions, dreams and wants.
Not expecting ALL to be granted,
Not expecting that they not.

The very important things, with diligence we pray,
And the significance of the passion has a lot to say,
About the “thing” we feel, compelled to speak of,
And the fervor with which we pray.

I believe that God answers, more prayers than we think,
I believe He answers them all, and one day we will see,
That he answered the call, as He saw fit, and as the time
Was appropriate, to make everything a perfect fit.

Perhaps not you wanted, asked for or pled!
For God gives us the best, does not want us to hurt.
And when I think I have heard wrong,
Because it was not what I wanted to hear?

And I do it my own way, cause hurt and tears.
Had I only listened, waited to see, what God saw that I couldn’t,
Perhaps I would be, far better, more stable, not so insecure.
I would be a much better person, and mentally….. healthy.

But God is working on my hearing, in more ways that one,
And soon I will know that voice, just like my own.
God has a plan for each and every soul,
And one day when I pass, I want my Lord to be able to say,
“Well done, my child. Welcome home. You have come a long way.”
