Praying The Alphabet Poem by Randy McClave

Praying The Alphabet

A grandfather was walking through his yard
Which was as beautiful as a greeting card,
Walking past the trees and the bushes and the flowers
After many wonderful awakening spring showers.
He then heard his granddaughter repeating the alphabet
In a tone of voice that sounded like a prayer yet,
So, he then walked up to where she was
His heart was full of compassion and of wonder and love.
The grandfather then asked her what she was doing
As the alphabet letters one after another she was cooing,
And how was she feeling
As she was on the ground hands clasped and kneeling.
The little girl explained to her grandfather then
I'm praying, as she repeated the alphabet once again,
But, I can't think of exactly the right words to say
To the Lord my feelings I need and I want to pray.
So, she said I'm just saying and repeating every alphabet letter
Which makes my soul feel so much better,
God will then put them all together for me in a blinking
Because, He already knows what I am thinking!
