Precious Moments In Life Cannot Cross Over Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Precious Moments In Life Cannot Cross Over

Walking into the twilight of life, looking at everything in
a new light, thinking it will be the last time to see it,
wanting to absorb every detail of these final moments.

Hoping to preserve these precious little treasures, taking
them with us to the other side of life, knowing full well
that will never happen.

For what you've had in life cannot cross over, not even
the one you've loved your whole life, a serious sadness
flowing like hot lava through your mind and heart.

Going to places where we used to go together, hoping to
find what we'd lost, but coming to the realization that
not even our feelings are there.

Just memories, frayed and aging, soon to be left behind
and there's nothing we can do about it, our lives being
hurt by these realizations.
