Pretend I'm Dead... Poem by Shaun Cronick

Great Scott! It's World Poetry Day!
And I haven't got an idea in my head.
Good poets will have my guts for garters,
Better hide away and pretend I'm dead.

But wait a minute as my mind unlocks,
And an incredibly poor poem takes form.
Like all the rest so very wretchedly written
Destined to be ignored and underperform.

Maybe I should think up something classy,
Using big and elegant words this time.
Nah! Bollocks to all that fancy crap,
I will stick with my trusted ad hoc rhyme.
