Prisoners Of Human Frailty Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Prisoners Of Human Frailty

All of us are prisoners of this earthly life, held within
the confines of our human frailty, subjected to many as-
pects of reality.

We try to live our lives according to God's Commandments,
at times finding it difficult to do, yet continuing to
struggle through them all.

Having hope that things will eventually turn around and
bring us in the end to our eternal salvation above in
heaven with God.

We were created by God as limited beings. Why? It is a mystery. The Book of Job addressing this problem but I find the closing passages very dissatisfying, because all God says over and over is: I'm too big for you to understand my motives. Which is tautology, not explanation, not justification. But Jews are allowed in their religious tradition to argue directly with God, to accuse him directly. It's the other side of prayer in their view. And when their diatribe against God's acts is over, they pray humbly. Although it's the same God of Abraham, Christians and Muslims really don't allow such an intimate argument with God. Perhaps they should reconsider, because the Jews have had the longest relationship with this God, it has an intimacy that comes from centuries of faith. So why don't Christians and Muslims build on that? Perhaps God is just waiting for humans to make the first move, and then he will say, You see, now you will understand my Voice In answering Job, because you have raised your voice and we meet on sacred ground. Know always, despite your doubts and questions and my Silence, YOU ARE MY BELOVED. That you must never doubt.
