Promise Poem by diana rose tolentino

Promise

I thought the years haven't been so long.
So how come I barely recognize you at all.
The eyes, nose and mouth look exactly the same.
And yet somehow I know something had changed.

I swear there is no humor in your eyes anymore.
I cannot hear the laughter I adored for so long.
Even your childlike smiles seem so cold.
I wonder how your soul could be so old.

It breaks me to pieces seeing you so low.
I don't know what ever stolen your glow.
Fame, wealth and pleasures I know you had it all.
And yet the happiness, I promise to give you more.

I will break down the wall though it's made of stone.
The prison you are in will soon be destroyed.
Promise I will give it all my might so don't push me away.
Soon I will bring you the sun and your shadows will fade.
