Promises Poem by Scarlett Voight

Promises

What is a promise, and
why should it be kept?

A promise is something you vow
to do or not to do
for the other persons sake

Its something that must
be kept no matter how
tough the situation becomes

No matter how far away
one must go from the other
you must never break them

For if you do...that broken promise
will tear into the flesh
and reach the heart filling it
with regret and sorrow

And for the other...
that persons own heart would be
wounded from the blade of that broken promise

That is why promises should be kept...
for broken ones
never heal
