Promises To Be Kept Poem by Kevin Wang

Promises To Be Kept

you'd say i'll keep a promise
but only if to satisfy their minds
but id say 'A promise is a promise to be kept'

promises of the past, present, future
each one adds like a burden
but be happy to carry it like a silver box of memories
interlocking these memories of all times, the sands of time
times of gold, silver, copper, gray

even the world revolves around the sun by a promise
a job to be kept
but even a promise can be broken
if u choose that path

promises usually to someone so special to u
or soon to become
cuz what if they were to go away
nd no goodbye
u'd have this promise of theirs to u as a lifelong gift
cuz u said u kept

but it is sometimes confusing
cuz too many promises is like pouring too much water in a bowl
until it overflows
not too little, not too much but just right
cuz the heart of mine to yours
this is what the world means to mean

if u were to break your promise
there may be a stirke of thunder or not
but u'd live to regret it cuz its a lifelong dream, gift
no matter time it is
it just might be their last gift from them
so until the end
i'd say
'here keep your promise and i'd keep my promise to yours forever and ever, til this road ends; well maybe even more'
