Proud Of Poem by Francis Duggan

Proud Of

Proud of your daughter and proud of your son
Of their recent successes and prizes they have won
Knowing that such stories others impress
You tell your friends of their every success
Since to them their gift of life you helped for to give
Your own dreams in life through their successes you live
When of your own or your children's successes you boast
To your own ego you are drinking a toast
Pride does become an egotistical thing
When of your own or your children's praises you does sing
It is self promotion in it's own way
But in the twenty first century boasting by many is seen as okay
Proud of your daughter and proud of your son
Of their recent successes and prizes they have won.
