Proud Of Themselves Poem by Francis Duggan

Proud Of Themselves

Proud of themselves and their marvellous lives
Proud of their beautiful children and wives
Proud of their Nation and National Flag
All of these things to them are worth a brag.

Such is the talk from them one only hear
In the Local when they are full of beer
Of their own praises they only do sing
Alcohol can be an amazing thing.

Alcohol is a tongue loosener 'twould seem
Their swollen egos full of self esteem
Self praise the in thing at the Local Bar
Proud of the marvellous men that they are.

Proud of the history of their Football Club
Saturday evening at the Local Pub
Their swollen egos do further inflate
As today's victory they do celebrate.

Billy, Fred, David, and Michael and Don
When they die without them will life go on?
In their Local they brag on loudly with their mates
As we know alcohol much noise creates.
