Pterodactyls Poem by Tan Pratonix

Pterodactyls

Rating: 3.3

Spread-eagled
Under the spreading runway
Pterodactyls struggle to rise.
One day the earth will crack up.

These blunt-nosed
Bleak-eyed blue-winged monsters
Streak into intangibility; stretching…
Strain –
And wings tumbling,
Props whiz,
Wheels spinning,
Stick...
Stick, split.

Out of the mind's fissure shoots
A skin-bone sheet-arm,
Beak breaking…
Back to this horror, this
Madness.

Loud, visual, and explosive image, Tan. Abrupt and somewhat damning in tone ('earth will crack') . Strong writing. 9 fierce marks. Regards, Gina.
