Puppy Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Puppy

Taken from mother and siblings, moved to new home
Strange, full of fresh smells, lessons to be learnt
Meeting two-legged ones becoming lifelong friends.
Playful puppy, messing carpets, gnawing furniture
Ripping wallpaper, full of play, being house-trained.
Loving little joyful clown lifting family spirits
Enjoying new adventures, discovering garden
Chasing ball, going on walks, meeting other dogs.
Sniffing, marking trees, exploring with excited wonder
Precious little puppy, much loved by human family
Squeaky toys, resting sleepily on human laps
Always wanting to please the two-legged ones
Greeting them home, tail wagging barking welcome.
