Purity Poem by DAVID TERRY

Purity

Purity is a virtue I have come to value
It is something I know nothing of, nor can I say in lieu
To esteem, admire, revere, and hold close
Of it there is replacement or anything I chose
Pure heart, pure intention, pure motives that speak
Of the purity inside her soul that renders mine weak
Its genesis whence I know not from long past
For new to my life is this purity to last
Purity came to my life in the kind words of one
Who had given her friendship above all and none
And the closer I got to see this love pure
The closer I felt to what I knew to be sure
Pure motives speak highly of one pure who is she
Who soiled from her own past shared purity with me
Washed clean from transgression to hold them no more
Purity entered my own soul, washed me clean, washed me pure
Better still, Pure is the name of one whose heart dear
Would gladly open to my in tenderness near
When no distance between us could ever diminish
My admiration for its depth in love given till finish
