Quand Sue Est En Rouge. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Quand Sue Est En Rouge. (Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
See Poem Hunter/ L. Hughes/ poems/ 101/104.
The lyric poem is about Susanna Jones, who looks beautiful to the poet when she wears red. He compares Susanna to Cleopatra walking once again, from out of the Egyptian night. Susanna's beauty burns in his heart 'a love-fire sharp like a pain'.
Red is my favourite colour and I think it is impressive in clothes-shirts, jerseys. The poem affirms that beauty and red clothing are important in a woman. It will attract men to her, even if they never meet.
