Questioning You Poem by Gabrielle Tastet

Questioning You

Walked into class,
And you weren’t there.
A little bird came to me on my shoulder
And whispered in my ear.
It made me smile
For the first time in a while.
You walk in and the bird flies away.
You smile and wave,
But then I notice that the words on your mind
Do not leave your lips.
How can what the bird said be true,
If you can’t bring yourself to say them?
This game we play,
Well, we’ve played before.
It’ll wind up the same unless you make a change.
I have no time for childish antics.
Especially if the game cannot be won.
