Questions To The Sky Poem by Jessica Pumphrey

Questions To The Sky

I have just one question
For the water from the sky
Just a few thoughts
For the things that live to die
Why is it that you give your life
To see just what it's like
Why is it that in order to see
You must live in seconds of time
Maybe i'm not thinking of your biggest dream
To see the world, to say what you've seen
But I guess I wonder, what it means
To live to see this world so cruel
To always have to go by the rules
And in a way it's all the same
You get up, go and live and dream
You do what it takes to say that you've seen the light
Even for just a few seconds
Maybe just for one good suggestion
So rain I'm starting to understand
It's not about how short a lifespan
It's how it feels to finally get to touch the land
To finally get to really see
To finally reach out and touch your dream
