Quite Good Enough Poem by Francis Duggan

Quite Good Enough

Since the hard work you do it is not matched by pay
You do wish that you could give the job away
The sole earner in your household your partner and three children on you depend
On saying you find life tough you are not one to pretend

Recently when you asked the boss for a raise in pay his answer to you
Was if you are not satisfied with your wages the company without you can do
And in a town of few jobs where many are unemployed
You must work hard for low wages and swallow your pride

As one of the town's hard working poor you deserved to be admired
Every work day you get up for work early and in the evening go home feeling tired
But with hope you are one who does keep the faith
And as is said all good things come to those who do wait

To your partner and children you are their best friend
And on low take home pay you have little money on your self for to spend
But you do hang in there though life on you is tough
And as a person you are quite good enough.
