Quite Ordinary Indeed Poem by Francis Duggan

Quite Ordinary Indeed

The lives of the seemingly ordinary we celebrate
And little to enthuse of in the heroes we create
The Government leader seems uninspiring to me
Though many with what I say may not agree
To bureaucracy leaders respect I cannot pay
I leave others to follow those who lead the way
To rank and class distinction too much respect is shown
But then having said that suppose to each their own
The Government leader our so called role model is visiting town
Through the streets the citizens band for to greet him does play up and down
Thousands of onlookers applaud the V I P cars being slowly driven by
Why they do seem so star struck one must wonder why
Since the one they have come to applaud and have chosen to lead
Seems an ordinary person quite ordinary indeed?
