Quite Inseparable Still Found Together Poem by Mark Heathcote

Quite Inseparable Still Found Together

This morning we crossed paths on
your landing, kissed, and embraced.
And said our parting I love you's—like
we did and done a thousand times before.
It's funny how after the tears of a breakup
have broken their swollen flood banks,
we find ourselves on new shores
looking at the same world as never before.
It's the second autumn now in a row.
You have waved me goodbye.
Before the leaves began to fall.
And I have parted on a deep sadness,
dejected but with hope in my heart:
After the winter will come the spring.
And today, darling, and today,
embracing every day together,
I wonder how many more
spring tides, there'll be before we're both
whisked away forever.
But later on, quite inseparable still found together.
