Quoof. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Quoof. (Translation) .

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Their family name for a hot water bottle was 'quoof', and he took one to many a strange bed with his partner. He remembers a hotel room in New York City, where he was with a girl who hardly spoke any English, and he put his hand on her breast, tentatively, like 'some other shy beast/ that has yet to enter the language'. The last phrase stops you in your tracks somewhat. The poem hints at the erotic, but in a most tasteful way.
Already this winter, I use a hot water bottle to get warm most nights.
